Angel Snakes are working muses. They sit quietly on the easel or in a corner, listening and encouraging. They offer suggestions only when asked and cheer the artist on with compliments. Generally they will not introduce very much drama into the human artist's life. They do have their own dramas, but there is no need to become involved, altogether a very practical sort of arrangement.
Sometimes they do paintings of their own, using the hair on their tails as paint brushes. One should always be careful about open tubes lying about. They don't eat much and do not take up much space. Most Angel Snakes are serious about their work and expect human artists to be the same.
A word of warning from my own experience: As long as only one or two of them were around, all was well. Madilla and Nuncio kept me company, gave me ideas for projects, and told me stories. It was when I let them bring friends and acquaintances into the house that trouble began. As a group, they began to clamor for attention, fight with one another, and want things--coffee mugs, beach umbrellas, skateboards, and so on. Finally, they ganged up on me about a road trip, hinting that they might find work (a few did), but mostly we found more stray Angel Snakes that needed a place to hang out between jobs, particularly in L.A. The Angel Snake Rally in Arkansas didn't help either. Five weeks and five thousand miles later, we all got home with their number dramatically increased.
Now I am working hard to find them work. Word has spread through the Angel Snake grapevine, that Gay and Ron are affable hosts so even more arrive daily. Like many beings on our planet, some are so desperate for work that they ask only for room and board and will even pay their own moving expenses. Such a deal!
Nuncio and Madilla now host this blog.
If you are lonely and would like to try working with an Angel Snake muse, let me know so that I can make their travel arrangements. While they can fly, long trips are best handled through the US Postal Service.

Brief History of Angel Snakes
Millennia ago, all snakes were Angel Snakes. Then widespread famine caused some of the species to abandon their exclusively vegetarian diet and eat whatever or whomever they could find. The bodies of the carnivorous snakes grew quite large and the wings that were no longer capable of lifting them into the air gradually disappeared, leaving the ground snakes we know today.
Even with little food, those steadfast vegetarian Angel Snakes managed to survive and become even more refined. They find their small size helps them to hide easily in the cracks and crevasses of the world. Superior intelligence and a well run educational system have allowed them to maintain their ability to converse with humans.
Nowadays most Angel Snakes are “working muses,” creating art of their own and encouraging others to do the same, except when they are getting into trouble.
